Yoland Dowling
Senior Environmental Consultant
1. How long have you been with Groundwork Plus?
I’ve been with Groundwork Plus for over seven years now. I came to the role after having worked as an Environmental Officer with the Department of Environment and Science (then DERM). I heard about the opportunity at Groundwork through a colleague at DES who knew Clayton Hill, and the rest is history!
2. What is your role at Groundwork Plus, and what does it entail?
I’m an Environmental Consultant with a particular focus on mining tenements and environmental approvals. Over the years I’ve developed an in-depth knowledge of the mining approvals framework in Queensland. On any given day I can be working on a broad range of things, from applying for a mining lease renewal through to undertaking an environmental assessment for a greenfield site. There’s always plenty of variety.
3. What are your areas of particular interest or your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment in recent years has been completing a Graduate Certificate in Project Management. It challenged me to broaden my mind and taught me new skills that have a wide range of applications in my role.
4. What is your favourite way to spend a weekend?
I moved to Sydney a little over two years ago and every weekend is an adventure, there’s always something new to see or do. My husband, Chris and I live in the inner west, which means we’re only a stone’s throw from loads of top Sydney attractions. One of my favourite things to do is to pack a picnic and head to Observatory Hill to soak in the amazing Harbour views - it never loses its charm.
