Emma Pearson
Project Officer
1. How long have you been with Groundwork Plus?
I have been with Groundwork Plus in the South Australian office for nearly four years now, I am one of the ‘’originals” of the South Australian team. I started part-time in an Administration role, and as my knowledge and skills in the business grew, my position has evolved into a Project Officer role. I have a varied background in banking, local council, regional development boards and wineries.
2. What is your role at Groundwork Plus, and what does it entail?
My role as Project Officer allows me to work across many sectors of the business. I manage Defined Impact Mining Lease Proposals, assist clients with mining tenure paperwork, environmental monitoring and lately I have become skilled at producing maps utilising QGIS a Geographical Information System (GIS) program.
3. What are your areas of particular interest or your proudest accomplishment?
The quarrying industry being new to me four years ago has provided me with the opportunity to learn a whole new industry. One of my proudest work accomplishments has been to assist a client to obtain a new Extractive Minerals Lease through the Defined Impact Mining Lease Proposal process.
Personally, I am quite proud of my first place in the Banana Cake and Chocolate Cake cooking competitions at the Port Lincoln show! The SA team seem to have no complaints about my banana cakes either. And of course, I am proud of my two beautiful children (and my dog).
4. What is your favourite way to spend a weekend?
I normally kick off my weekend with I affectionately term – Champagne o’clock on a Friday afternoon! I have two young children (7 and 4 years old) so my weekends are normally taken up spending time with them (aka playgrounds) or playing netball for my local club.
